Canadian creative’s Chloe Lum and Yannick Desranieau began their collaboration as designers in 2001 via their noise-rock band AIDS Wolf. Together they became Seripop, a Montreal based dynamic duo that’s been creating new prints by hand with alarming speed and ingenuity. Known for their façade of haphazard, wobbly lines, overlapping detail and eccentric color schemes, Seripop have raised notice by fellow graphic artists and musicians alike. Honored with the Juno Award for CD/DVD Artwork Design in 2007 for their work on MSTRKRFT’s “The Looks”, Chloe and Yannick remain humble in character, although extremely discerning with their choice of clientele.

Bastards! (2007)

As stated in their interview on Crown Dozen, “We’re basically just groupies who are too lame/dorky/ugly to do more than graphics.” And groupies they shall remain, choosing their projects first and foremost by their personal opinion of the artist. Seripop only works with bands they really, truly love and this fact is a likely influence to how they’re designs have remained so fresh throughout their career. When they’re not cranking out prints they’re often traveling, participating in group shows, swapping and collaborating. Moving forward they’ll be looking to focus a bit more on fine art, with a new solo show opening March 2009 at the Peacock Visual Arts Center in Scotland.
