Fucked Up’s 2009 release The Chemistry of Common Life has been announced as the winner of the 2009 Polaris Music Prize, an award given by the Canadian music industry to a Canadian album of the highest artistic merit. Previous winners include Caribou, Patrick Watson and Final Fantasy. Winners receive a $20,000 prize and immeasurable visibility by the international music community. Fucked Up beat out several big names, including Metric and Great Lake Swimmers.
