Sonny Kay
Sonny Kay occupies a sort of grey area between musician and artist. Beginning his "adult" life as an art major, painting and printmaking quickly took a backseat to music, as Sonny became a founding member of the bands Year Future, The VSS, and Angel Hair (to name a few), toured incessantly, and launched the Gold Standard Laboratories label. Fourteen years later as the dust began to settle, he shifted gears and refocused himself on visual art. Now Creative Director for the sibling record labels Sargent House and Rodriguez Lopez Productions, Kay spends his days typesetting liner notes, and his evenings concocting surrealist digital collage, something for which he's gradually becoming synonymous with. Having designed the occasional band t-shirt or two over the years, he's ecstatic about having one of his non-music-related creations finally committed to cotton.
