Bigprototype
Bigprototype is a Brooklyn-based design firm and fabrication lab founded by Yale School of Architecture graduates, Sarah Strauss and John Nafziger. Upon completion of their studies, the two began working for a design/build firm in Brooklyn, NY. In the spring of 2004, Strauss and Nafziger began their own company, utilizing the diverse and eclectic skill set they recognized in both their friendship and their professional partnership. Their design sensibilities meet to give their work directionality, stemming from the incorporation and co-option of dynamic elements inherent in "'living' objects and processes. Their commitment to hands on design is supported by their on-site shop facilities. The fabrication lab makes possible the testing, research, and enhancement of custom product designs and prototypes, as well as the experimentation and employment of new materials and technologies.
