Andrea Estella

Andrea Estella is the front woman for New York's Twin Sister, where her playfully imaginative lyrics and penchant for the ethereal reflect her background as a visual artist, something she's been passionate about much of her life. Working primarily in watercolors, ink, and (lately) sculptures, her subjects are often characters from her lyrics, or vice versa, the visuals imagined later influencing the direction a song's story will take. This is perhaps best on display in the song Kimmi in a Rice Field, Kimmi being a favored character from many drawings, who was then brought to life in the band's music video, for which Andrea supervised the art direction in addition to acting the parts. She notes her influences as Hayao Miyazaki, Herb Hernandez, Jonny Negron, Elisa Malo, Don Bluth, Rumiko Takahashi, Naoki Yamamoto, Winsor McCay and Tove Jansson, and is seriously excited to get off tour and back to her art.
